DITCH KITCHEN AND SURF BAR

The owners of “ditch” Kitchen & Surf Bar in Port Jefferson, NY, understand the importance of quality audio for their guests. While we admit that the music being too loud or too quiet wouldn’t bother us because the food is so good, having the ability to control the audio system effectively is definitely an imperative thing in the restaurant world. After discussing the wants and needs with the owners of the establishment, WiredUP engineers all agreed that the QSC MP Series mixers would be a perfect fit, since it would also perfectly match their Bay Shore location.

In addition to the MP Series mixer, we specified an additional QSC SPA2-60 amplifier to be able to add additional zones to the design. We reused the preexisting Crown XLi2000 for the main bar area speakers. The system is very simple, and is broken up into 4 main zones. The existing XLi2000 powers a total of 4 Sonance Mariner 86 loudspeakers for the main bar/dining area sound system. Channel 1 on the SPA2-60 feeds a single Sonance Mariner 86, located on the Front Porch, and the second channel on the same amplifier feeds an additional Sonance Mariner 86 in the restroom area.

Playback music is played from an iPad located in the office. All 3 TV Cable boxes were also integrated into the system. WiredUP also installed an XLR input for live band inputs. This input plate is set as XLR line inputs, so they can be used to connect any device to, including but not limited to bands and DJ’s.

The flexibility of the MP-M80 Mixer allows for managers to play any input in any zone at any time. For example, if there is a live band inside, the bar/dining area may be set to that source, whereas the the outdoor area may remain on either a TV, iPad music playback, or can match the indoor source.
